callaces on dogs

Hey all,
I was just curious if anyone's dog ever had a callace that became infected. I just took my guide to the vet this morning because her callace seems to have gotten infected. we are trying antibiotics right now to see if we can't clear it up but if this doesn't work then surgery to remove it is the other option. I was curious if anyone has had this happen if the antibiotics worked or did surgery have to happen. she is 9 and a half and while is in excellent health I don't want her to be anestatized if I can avoid it.
